People sat in the gold-splicing class said that it sounded to splice cracked pieces by gold metal. Actually, the crack-splicing technique uses the lacquerware art which requires repetitious steps continuously. You can't see gorgeous and luxurious until you complete the tedious works in row.

When you broke a favorite glasses, porcelain or ceramics (Fig. 1), you would wonder if there are someone to have these once-valuable ones mended because you would consider it right too dear to throw away these broken ones.

Won't you see the broken utensils reborned by mending the broken ones through the lacquerware art.

Take a ceramic bowl for example, there is a crack running downward from a notched brim of the bowl (Fig. 1).

The crack appears inside the bowl, the bowl would be out os use if the bowl is left as it is (Fig. 2).

　 The bowl requires to be reinforced by a patch of cloth just like putting a gyps (plaster bandage in Fig. 3).

A usage of the patch of cloth should be necessary minimum to keep a certain level of strength. The ustensils once broken would not be easy to completely recover the original strength. This would make necessary to handle the reborned ones carefully.

　 During the mending steps, the patch of cloth should be put by lacquer coating (Fig. 4).

A gold or silver foil may be used to color the crack. The same technique would be also employed inside the bowl. Considering that the food is put inside the bowl, it is preferable to finish the mending work by using the lacquerware art. The black contrast with white color background will seem to be very modern.

　 You can change the bowl to a ceramic planter to realize the moss art.

　 Adding the mother-of-pearl work to the crack would make the splice-teaching class more exciting and enjoyable.
